Important Internship information

DEADLINES

Spring Semester - Application due: November 7th

Summer Semester - Application due: March 20th

Fall Semester - Application due: June 20th

Applications received past the due dates will not be accepted. If you cannot submit an application during the time required, you are encouraged to apply for the following semester. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please have your school internship liaison email Lindsay Mitchell. Applications that do not include a resume and internship requirements within 48 hours of application submission will not be accepted.

Interning with Catawba County Social Services offers individuals the opportunity to

    • Get a realistic glimpse in the daily work of social service professionals
    • Apply classroom knowledge and skills in social service settings
    • Gain new skills, knowledge and work experience in the field of social work

The internship is for the benefit of the student and is not to be used in place of employees. Therefore, the intern will not receive compensation for time spent in the internship. Internship placement is limited and not guaranteed. Placement of students obtaining an Associate degree may not be possible. Catawba County is not currently accepting internships for High School students due to the sensitive nature of the work and confidentiality.

Before beginning your application, please do the following:

    • Make sure you have a current resume.
    • Make sure you have your school’s internship requirements
    • Make sure that your school has a contract with Catawba County Social Services. If you are unsure about the contract, please have your internship liaison contact Brittany Rhyne at bwright@catawbacountync.gov
    • Once you have completed your application, send your resume and internship requirements within 48 hours to Lindsay Mitchell at lmitchell@catawbacountync.gov If these documents are not submitted within 48 hours the application will not be considered.
