Catawba County Tax Office Receives International Recognition
Published: September 24, 2021
The Catawba County Tax Office received a Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Catawba County is currently the fourth jurisdiction in North Carolina to hold this distinction.
The Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration (CEAA) recognizes jurisdictions using best practices in both appraisal and assessment within their tax offices. According to the IAAO, the CEAA is attained by jurisdictions that “demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the assessment and appraisal disciplines to both their constituents and their peers.”
The application process to receive a CCEA is rigorous and is designed not only to recognize strengths, but also to serve as a continuous improvement process for jurisdictions. Because the CEAA comprehensively reviews best practices throughout an organization, the process places a strong emphasis on teamwork.
“This recognition is very difficult to achieve, and we are proud of our Tax Office team for consistently delivering the caliber of work required of this honor,” said Catawba County Manager Mick Berry. “We commend our staff for providing a high level of stewardship and service to our citizens.”
Jurisdictions that receive a CEAA must reapply every five years to retain recognition. For more information about the CEAA program, visit the IAAO website at www.iaao.org.
