Kids Voting
The library has teamed up with Catawba County 4H to give kids a hands-on voting experience! We’ll have voting stations, button-making activities, and resources to help kids understand the voting process.

Tales in the Garden: Fall Fun

Join us and Murray's Mill in the community garden for bilingual stories, crafts and fun. We will explore a variety of fall traditions including decorating harvest brooms.

Lego Club

Come for brick-snapping fun! We'll supply the Legos - you bring your imagination! Build, make, and play as we explore our creativity through Legos. We will have free play and Lego challenges. 

Stuffed Animal Sleepover 
Friday, October 25 at 4:30 pm
Through Saturday, October 26 at 10 am
Main Library in Newton

Bring your bravest stuffed animal (that you can be apart from for a whole night) to the library for a sleepover at 4:30 pm on Friday! Make a craft and fill out the permission slip before leaving your stuffed animal for a night of fun. Join your library friends and stuffed animals for snacks and a video of the night’s adventures at 10 am the next morning on Saturday.

Teen Halloween Trivia

Test your knowledge of everything spooky, myths, and your favorite Halloween movies! A prize will be given to the winner and candy to the participants.

Zumba Mondays!
Mondays at 6 pm
October 21 at First UMC Newton, Fellowship Hall
Kick off your week with a burst of Zumba, a dance and movement class that’s too much fun to call exercise. It’s appropriate for every skill and ability level and open to anyone 14+ (parental signature required for teens under 18).

Purl and Chain: Knit and Crochet Club
Tuesdays at 6 pm

Make new friends and enjoy the company of others while you knit and crochet. Bring your own materials. 

Mindful Movement
Fridays at 3 pm

Combining stretching with meditation may benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. You can do these exercises while sitting in a chair or bring a mat/towel for floor routines.  While this class is geared to 50+, adults of all ages are invited to join. 

Yoga at the Park
Fridays, October 18 & 25 at 11 am
Mountain Creek Park

A certified yoga instructor will lead us through a beginner-friendly, gentle flow yoga class inside at the MCP Information Center. You are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel as well as a small blanket. 

Haunted Newton: A Ghost Tour *SOLD OUT*

at 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, 8 pm, & 9 pm

Join us for a spooky adventure in Downtown Newton!
In collaboration with the Catawba County Museum of History, this Ghost Tour will take you on a journey through the haunted history of the downtown area. Explore eerie alleys, hear chilling tales, and maybe even encounter a ghost or two! This in-person event is perfect for thrill-seekers and history buffs alike.
Tours will begin and end at the library, take us through downtown on a tractor-pulled wagon, and include stops at Eastview 
Cemetery and the Catawba County Museum of History (where there will be a 
spine-tingling surprise waiting for us)!
Parking is available in the lower lot of the library. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your tour to check in. Wagon leaves promptly on the hour.

Plein Air for Children Art Workshop
Friday, October 18 from 10 am to 2:30 pm
Catawba Farms in Newton

Join us for an exciting outdoor painting program for young artists to explore the beauty of nature while creating their own artwork outdoors. Program will be presented by the Catawba Valley Festival of the Arts artist-in-residence, Pablo Posada Pernikoff. He will provide hands-on instruction, guiding participants through basic painting techniques as they capture the scenic landscapes around them.
