We've got Storytimes!

Bilingual Live Preschool Storytime via Zoom
Wednesdays December 22 at 10 am
Gather the kids and join us for a live, interactive preschool storytime presented in English and Spanish! This family-friendly virtual event includes singing, reading and lots of fun.  Please register at You’ll receive email confirmation with a Zoom link.

Holiday Tales in the Garden
Monday, December 20 at 5:30 pm
Main Library in Newton

For our final Tales in the Garden of 2021, we will explore holidays around the world. Join us for this in person, bilingual family event. We will share stories in English and Spanish, create crafts from around the world, and have a special visit with Santa himself!  Please bring a blanket or camp chair.

Holiday Tales and Jingle Bells Interactive Display

Southwest Branch Library

Everyone is welcome to express your creativity throughout the month by visiting our Holiday Tales and Jingle Bells interactive display table. Each week there will be a different activity designed to spark your imaginations and originality!

Elf (the movie) Party
Saturday, December 18 at 11am
Conover Branch Library

Join us as we have an Elf themed Christmas Party full of holiday fun! We will be crafting, eating lots of sugar, and writing letters to Santa. Feel free to come in your ugly Christmas sweaters, Elf costumes, or any other holiday inspired attire. To register, visit the library or call 828-466-5108.

Catawba Songwriters
Tuesday, December 21 at 6 pm
Southwest Branch Library

Come and share your talents while you learn from others. Bring a finished written song or 
one that’s in progress to share with the group. Teens and tweens with musical talents are invited to join the group.


All Catawba County Library System branches (Newton, Claremont, Conover, Maiden, Sherrills Ford-Terrell, Southwest and St. Stephens) will be closed from Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27. We hope you enjoy the holidays with your family and friends!
