Anime Viewing: 5 Centimeters Per Second

Teens are invited to view this animated film, which follows young dreamer Takaki through life as the seasons, technology, silence, and adult obligations converge to prevent a relationship with his true love. A breathtaking coming-of-age story.
Textured Watercolor Painting
Thursday, August 15 at 4 pm
Children will learn the techniques of painting with watercolors to create their own personal masterpieces.

Mondays at 6 pm
Kick off your week with this dance/movement activity that’s too much fun to call exercise. Appropriate for every skill and ability level, open to ages 14+ (parental signature required for those under 18).

UnBook Club for Non-Joiners

Finally, a book club for people who don’t want to read what everyone else is reading, don’t want to make a commitment each month, and who definitely want food and drink options. Come to this meeting to tell others about the books you’ve been reading and possibly get reading suggestions from others. Meets at Blue Moon Tavern in downtown Newton.
Finding Scholarships: Maximize Your Effectiveness

Each year, approximately $100 million in scholarship money goes un-awarded, most often due to a lack of eligible applicants. Attend this workshop with CFI’s Skip Watts to learn everything you need to know about locating and applying for college scholarships, because it all adds up.
Adult STEAM: Create 3-D Printed Jewelry
Thursday, August 15 at 6 pm
Learn to create 3-D files using Tinkercad, a free online computer-aided design (CAD) software. Participants will have the opportunity to create simple objects for earrings, necklaces, or bracelets using geometric shapes and letters that can be printed with the 3-D printer. Supplies are provided. Registration required.

Tai Chi for Healthy Living
Fridays at 11 am
This series of tai chi classes runs through November 22 and is taught by a certified instructor via live video feed. Combining the Tai Chi for Health and A Matter of Balance principles, the research-based class aims to increase activity levels, enhance fitness, and prevent falls in adults of all ages. Yellow Dyno Safety Program

Connie Engart from the Children’s Advocacy & Protection Center will present a special program using puppets, music, and video to teach 4-7 year olds how to identify deceptive behavior, react to instincts, and build self-confidence. A special permission slip explaining what your child will learn at the program is available prior to the program.

The Children’s Advocacy & Protection Center will present a two-hour training session that teaches parents, grandparents, and guardians how to recognize child abuse. The workshop will include compelling video testimonials of sexual abuse survivors sharing their personal stories of trauma and healing.
