Soup for the Soul

Soup for the Soul

Published: February 05, 2020

National Homemade Soup Day is February 4, and the library has already taken advantage of the popular celebration by offering a variety of soup-related activities.

To cap these programs, we’re presenting Soup for the Soul. The feel-good workshop acknowledges that soup is not just filling for the body but satisfying for the spirit as well. It’s warm, comforting, affordable, and it makes smart use of leftovers. It’s also even better the day after it’s made.

Although some soup recipes can be complicated, we'll be sharing a selection that come together quickly and simply. At our program, we’ll be exploring different ways that soups can be assembled using what you have on hand and learning how to adapt recipes to fit your available ingredients. We'll also be talking about how to make soups from scratch and how to keep them healthful. We’ll create ones that your family is sure to enjoy!

Soup for the Soul will be presented in both English and Spanish, and all are welcome at the family-friendly program. It takes place at 5:30 pm on Monday, February 10 at the Main Library in Newton.
