Regina Reitzel, Catawba County Library’s collections and acquisitions senior librarian, has been captivated by Walk the Wire lately. Author David Baldacci’s March 2020 release and Number Six in the Memory Man series, Walk the Wire marks the latest adventure for Amos Decker, a renowned police detective with a perfect memory. This story takes place in London, North Dakota, a booming oil town, and it involves the death of a young woman who worked as a teacher by day and a prostitute by night. Set against the town’s increasingly lawless background and operating in the midst of suffocating secrets, Decker must work against the clock to unearth a killer in a town whose volatility is nearly at an explosive peak.

Reitzel has been a long-time fan of Baldacci, who she claims as her favorite mystery author. She also likes the character of Amos Decker and the methodology behind his detective work. According to Reitzel, “Baldacci is a master at creating an intriguing journey that culminates in finding the person responsible for the crime.”
