Dr. Seuss STEAM Party
Published: February 27, 2020
We’re celebrating Ted Geisel’s birthday this month, and were he still alive, he would be 116 on March 2. Of course, the world knows Ted better by his pen name: Dr. Seuss, the children’s author and illustrator whose distinctive literary voice and artistic style have mesmerized generations of children.
• School-aged children are invited to join us for a host of Dr. Seuss-themed activities at our STEAM Party in honor of his birthday. Participants will have the chance to create art, practice their creative writing skills, and much more in this fun, do-it-your-own-way workshop.
The party takes place at 4 pm on Monday, March 2 at the Southwest Branch Library in Mountain View.
• Later in the month, we’ll revisit Dr. Seuss by watching The Lorax movie. The 2012 computer-animated film is based on Seuss’s 1971 book that offers a cautionary tale about humans’ destructive impact on the environment. Considered Dr. Seuss’s favorite of his books, it’s said to share a meaningful story without coming across as dull or excessively preachy.
The 2012 movie expands the cast of characters first introduced in the book and features the voice talents of Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Danny DeVito, and Betty White.
The movie screening takes place at 5 pm on Tuesday, March 22 at the Southwest Branch Library.
