County to Host Comprehensive Plan Drop-in Sessions
Published: February 13, 2024
After gathering community perspectives and analyzing local data, Catawba County has updated a Comprehensive Plan to help guide how land is used in the county in coming decades.
Residents are invited to drop by and see how their input is reflected in the plan at one of the County’s three Comprehensive Plan open house sessions in February. Open houses will take place February 22 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Blackburn Elementary School; February 27 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Catawba County Government Center, and February 29 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Sherrills Ford Elementary School.
The open house events will feature various information tables where residents can see the plan’s recommendations and view updated land use maps.
The Comprehensive Plan establishes a vision for land use in the unincorporated areas of Catawba County based on an analysis of present and future needs. The plan’s development is guided by a citizen-based steering committee with input from county residents and technical staff. The plan will be presented to the Catawba County Board of Commissioners for adoption in April.
Residents with questions about the open house events are encouraged to call Catawba County Planning and Parks at (828) 465-8380.
