Animal Shelter to Temporarily Close to the Public for Reflooring

The Catawba County Animal Shelter, located at 201 Government Services Drive in Newton, will be temporarily closed to the public July 13-16, 2021 for reflooring. The shelter will reopen to the public Saturday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m.

Shelter staff will not be answering phones during this time but can be reached via email at animalservices@catawbacountync.gov or through the shelter’s Facebook (@catawbacoanimalservices) and Instagram (@catawbacoanimalservices) social media pages.

Catawba County Animal Control, which is co-located in the shelter building, will be fully operational during this time and can be reached at (828) 466-6814. However, Animal Control will not be taking in any owner-surrendered animals while the shelter is closed.
