Briefly describe your job. What do you do?
I register eligible voters in Catawba County. If there’s any deceased voters within the county or counties, I make certain they are pulled off the list for voting purposes. If a voter is convicted of a felon, I have to issue them a letter stating their rights have been revoked. The majority of my work is recruiting poll workers for all elections. I also assist with training those workers.
What is a typical workday like for you?
Other than deskwork, I’m usually on the phone answering questions in regards to voting, felons, and reviewing poll worker applications.
What is your favorite aspect of your job – what do you enjoy doing most?
Helping people. The fulfillment of being able to assist someone, knowing that I helped empower them to vote is to have their voice heard.
What is the County core value you believe most relates to the work you do, and why?
Doing What’s Right. Integrity. It allows me to perform my job on those standards.
What do you like best about working for Catawba County?
Serving the people in the community.
