  WOOD/YARD WASTE

MARKET AND USE
  • Brush and Limbs
  • Leaves; grass and leaves that need to be debagged
  • Wood; furniture blocks, pallets, painted and treated wood

The wood/yard waste products that are disposed of at the C&D Landfill are ground and chipped for various uses. Clean furniture blocks, brush and limbs are ground for mulch sales. Leaves and grasses are combined with mulch for compost sales.

In 1998, Catawba County received approval from the State to use mulch as an alternate daily cover, resulting in a decreased need for soil use as a daily cover. This method requires State approval.
