The Catawba County Detention Facility is housed in the Catawba County Justice Center in Newton. The original facility was built in 1980 and was designed to hold eighty-nine inmates. In August 2007, an expansion was completed which added one hundred-seventy-six new beds. A full time staff of seventy oversees the around the clock attention to inmates. The Catawba County Detention Facility is divided into several areas: The master control station and three sub control stations, maximum security, general housing, initial housing, trustee section, female section, food service area, administrative offices, medical area, warehouse area and intake/release area.

VISITING HOURS FOR THE NEWTON DETENTION FACILITY

Times: 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Tuesday Last names starting with "D" - "J"

Wednesday Last names starting with "K" - "R"

Thursday No visitation

Friday Last names starting with "S" - "Z"

Each Inmate will only be allowed one 15 minute visit per week.
