Q: Can I talk to a nurse at school?
A: You have a school nurse who is part of the Totally Teens Health Center available to see you at school and talk with you confidentially about health or other concerns? If you would like to talk with her, let your guidance counselor or a teacher know and he/she will contact the nurse who will see you as soon as possible. There is a school nurse for all of the middle and high schools.
Q: Can a teen come to Totally Teens Health Center without a parent?
A: Not always. A parent must sign a Parental Consent Form before any teen can be seen in the health center. We encourage that parents come to the first visit at Totally Teens Health Center. Thereafter, since we have the consent on file for one year, teens may come to their visits alone. The Parental Consent Form can be completed prior to the first visit by accessing the form from our site and having the signature witnessed.
Q: We don't have health insurance or Medicaid. Can I still be seen at Totally Teens Health Center?
A: Yes. We offer a Sliding Scale Fee-For-Service. What that means is that you or your parents can speak to one of our Eligibility Coordinators to see if you qualify for a discount on your services. Discounts can vary from 0% to 100%. Please ask.
Q: We have a large out-of-pocket insurance deductible. Would we qualify for a discount?
A: You might. Please call our Eligibility Coordinator to find out if you qualify for any discount on what your insurance does not pay.
Q: I have a Medical Doctor. I only want to see someone for counseling and nutrition services. Do I have to be seen by your medical provider in order to access these services?
A: No. If you have an established Medical Provider seeing you for your healthcare needs we want you to continue your relationship with that provider. It is great that you have that established relationship. You can access any level of services you desire at Totally Teens Health Center. As we add new services and providers, we hope you will access any or all of them.
Q: Do you have evening or Saturday hours?
A: We do not provide evening (after 5:00 p.m.) or Saturday hours, however, as we receive requests for expanded hours we will consider those requests. Please continue checking our site for hours and services.
