What Does Permit Status Mean? The following terms are used to identify where in the process a permit is. Most permits follow the sequence of events listed below:
Received: The status of a permit or license when the application is filed and prior to being issued.
Issued: The status of a permit or license when issued.
Active: The permit has been issued but does not yet have a final status.
Final: Signifies closure of a permit. The applicant/owner has completed the project in accordance with the approved plans and the associated conditions of approval.
Expired: The status of a permit due to a specific time period, or of a time period of inactivity. For example Building Permit applications expire if not issued 180 days after the application date. Under certain conditions applicants can request an extension of up to an additional 180 days.
Hold: The permit is in a hold status due to a condition involving parcel restrictions, unpaid fees or other factors determined by code officials. No further activity will occur on permit until condition has been resolved.
Void: The status of a permit application when the applicant withdraws the application.
