Poster Contest
This annual event is for 3rd-6th grades. Each grade level will be judged individually and awarded first, second, and third place. Many posters will be displayed at the Main Library in Downtown Newton and winning poster participants will be invited to our awards banquet. Top posters in each grade level will advance to the Area contest in March. The winning posters from the Area will advance to the State contest held in Raleigh in May, sponsored by the NC Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts.
Computer Designed Slide Show
6th grade students. Winning entries will be invited to our awards banquet held in February. Top slide shows will advance to the Area contest in March. The top slide shows from the Area will advance to the State contest held in Raleigh in May, sponsored by the NC AssociationW of Soil & Water Conservation Districts.
Essay Contest
6th grade students. Each school may send their essays to represent the school in the District’s Annual Essay Contest. Winning essay writers will be invited to our February awards banquet. The District will select one winner to compete in the Area Contest. The Area winner will advance to the State contest held in May.
Public Speaking
This annual event is for 7th and 8th grade students. Each school is eligible to send five 7th and five 8th grade representatives to the judging. Winning participants will be invited to our awards banquet. Top speeches in each grade level will advance to the Area contest in March. The top speeches from the Area will advance to the State contest held in Raleigh in May, sponsored by the NC Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts. **If your school plans to participate, please contact our office at least one week prior to the submission deadline, so we can prepare for you.

This annual event is for 9th grade students. Winning entries will be invited to our awards banquet held in February. The first place winner will advance to the area contest.
