Take a survey being conduced by the Greater Hickory Metropolitan Planning Organization and Unifour Rural Planning Organization, as a Comprehensive Transportation Plan is developed for our region.  Those taking the survey will be including in a drawing for a $200 gasoline card.  Full story  Take survey

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners recently presented Certificates of Commendation to eleven young people who are all actively involved in the 4-H program and have successfully represented the county on the state, regional and national level.  Full story

Photo of Bakers MountainThe Catawba County Board of Commissioners has approved a Parks Master Plan, which will guide the County in future development of its parks system and programs.

The plan follows two years of study and public outreach by a Parks Focus Group, comprised of a cross-section of citizens from different backgrounds and geographic areas of the county.  Parks Master Plan

A independant review of the County's financial activities by Martin Starnes and Associates found the County in "good financial condition".  Full story

"Based on the results of our 2007 Immunization Audit, 90% of childcare centers are in full or 100% compliance, an impressive achievement,” said Catawba County Public Health Director, Doug Urland.  Full story

The trees featured the names of the children served by Family Builders of Catawba Valley.  Thanks to Angel Tree supporters, Catawba County children in foster and adoptive placements had a very Merry Christmas this year.  Full story
