Catawba County Public Health was temporarily out of H1N1 flu vaccine as this issue of the E-News was released. It is expecting a shipment of H1N1 vaccine soon. Public Health has some seasonal flu vaccine for children remaining, but has been told by its supplier that it will not get any more seasonal flu vaccine for adults. Check Public Health's Flu Information Center often for the latest updates. |
Early voting begins at Main Library in Newton October 15.

Catawba County will continue celebrating the 10 year anniversary of its parks system with special events on October 17 and 24!

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners next meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the 1924 Courthouse, 30 North College Avenue in Newton, NC.
The Board will consider accepting a $31,745 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program Grant, which would provide reimbursement for some costs associated with the housing of undocumented criminal aliens in local jails, and conduct a work session, following its regular agenda, to receive an update on the condition of the Bunker Hill Covered Bridge. Teen Read Week Planned by County Library
The Catawba County Library System is celebrating Teen Read Week with special activities for ages 12-18. Teen Read Week (Oct. 18-24) is an initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. The observance is designed to encourage youth to visit their public and school libraries, choose their own reading material and read for pleasure. The theme this year is “Read Beyond Reality.” Full story
