The Catawba County Board of Commissioners' next meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 at the 1924 Courthouse at 30 North College Avenue in Newton, NC
The Catawba County Board of Commissioners will consider final adoption of a fiscal year 2008-2009 County budget and a request for a transfer of funds the County has realized, with the State’s assumption of counties’ Medicaid costs, to the General Fund to replace withheld Average Daily Membership funds in the County’s Schools Capital Project Fund, when the Board meets at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2008, in the Robert E. Hibbitts Meeting Room of the 1924 Courthouse, at 30 North College Avenue in Newton.
The Board will also consider a tax refund request; a request to declare the service sidearm and badge of Sheriff’s Investigator Doris Kirby as surplus, and present these items to Investigator Kirby on the occasion of her retirement, and recognize Mr. Doug Taylor, Executive Director of the Western Piedmont Council of Governments, with a Distinguished Public Service Award for his thirty-eight years of service to the region. Catawba County to hold pet "Adopt-athon" on May 31.
The Adopt-athon will be held at the Catawba County Animal Shelter, adjacent to and behind the Justice Center off Highway 321 Business in Newton, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Animals at the shelter will be available for adoption, and pet owners can have their pets vaccinated for rabies and learn more about training for puppies, dogs and cats. Full story |
Sherrills Ford Fire and Rescue prepares to serve expanded district, following a May 19, 2008 letter, in which Denver Fire Chief James Flynn informed Catawba County that the Denver Fire Department will end a contract to provide fire service to portions of southeastern Catawba County on June 30, 2008.
