The Catawba County Board of CommissionersThe Catawba County Board of Commissioners' next meeting is set for 7:00 pm on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the 1924 Courthouse, 30 North College Avenue in Newton, NC.

Due to a National Association of Counties Legislation Conference in Washington, DC in March of every year that some members of the Board of Commissioners attend, the Board traditionally does not meet during the first week of March.  The Board's only regular meeting in March will be on March 16.    Board of Commissioners page

Public Health is now accepting MasterCard, Visa, and Discover for payments

Retired Catawba County Fire Marshal David PruittRetired Catawba County fire marshal wins state lifetime achievement honor. 

David Pruitt, who served as Catawba County’s Fire Marshal from 2002 until June 2008, was given the B.T. Fowler Lifetime Achievement Award by the North Carolina Fire and Life Safety Educational Council.  Full story

The survey asks citizens to rate customer service at the Library and suggest additional programs and materials they would like to see offered by the Library.  Take the survey

Catawba County recorded its first confirmed case of rabies for 2009 after a dog killed a skunk on February 8, and the skunk later tested positive for the disease. The dog was not current on its rabies vaccination and the owner chose to have the dog euthanized.  The single best way to protect your pets from rabies is to make sure they are properly vaccinated.  Full story
