Trees and other natural decorations will be collected at all five convenience centers in Catawba County through January 31, 2009, and at curbsides during the first two weeks of January 2009. Full story

Image of person filling in a tax formAvoid interest penalties by remembering deadline for property tax payments! 

Those who have not yet paid should remember that interest accrues at the rate of 2% for January and three-fourths of one percent for each following month on all tax bills still unpaid after 5 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009. Payments sent by mail must be postmarked no later than January 5, 2009 to avoid the added interest. Full story

Catawba County Library logoCatawba County Library fines of $2 or more may now be paid for with credit or debit cards.  The change, effective immediately, is a convenience for customers.  Fees, varying from 20 cents to $1 per day, are charged for DVDs, music and equipment not returned within seven days and books, audiobooks and magazines kept for more than 14 days.  Full story
