Those who have not yet paid should remember that interest accrues at the rate of 2% for January and three-fourths of one percent for each following month on all tax bills still unpaid after 5 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009.  Catawba County Library fines of $2 or more may now be paid for with credit or debit cards. The change, effective immediately, is a convenience for customers. Fees, varying from 20 cents to $1 per day, are charged for DVDs, music and equipment not returned within seven days and books, audiobooks and magazines kept for more than 14 days. Full story |
 Independent audit for fiscal year 2007-2008 shows County remained in "sound financial position". Paula Hodges, audit manager for Martin Starnes & Associates, CPAs, P.A., recently told the Catawba County Board of Commissioners that the County is in "sound financial condition" as a result of its conservative approach to budgeting and spending.
