WIC is a federal supplemental nutrition program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.(USDA) for pregnant, postpartum, and breast-feeding women and infants, and children up to age five. Provides food coupons/vouchers to redeem at participating food stores for nutritional foods (ex. milk, juice, eggs, cheese, cereal). Counseling and education also provided.

Catawba County WIC office serves a case load of over 3,400 participants. (This includes Pregnant or Post Partum Women, Infants to 1 year of age, and Children up to age 5.)

HOURS

  • The WIC office is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • We are not closed at lunch, therefore you may walk in or telephone us as needed throughout the day.
  • Any holiday closings will be posted prior to the holiday for client convenience.

BREASTFEEDING

We have two breastfeeding peer counselors, and a lactation consultant as well as several past breastfeeding mothers
