WIC is a
federal supplemental nutrition program funded by the
United States Department of Agriculture.(USDA)
for pregnant, postpartum, and breast-feeding
women and infants, and children up to
age five. Provides food coupons/vouchers
to redeem at participating food stores
for nutritional foods (ex. milk, juice,
eggs, cheese, cereal). Counseling and
education also provided.
Catawba County WIC office serves a case load of over 3,400 participants.
(This includes Pregnant or Post Partum Women,
Infants to 1 year of age, and Children up to age 5.)
HOURS
The WIC office is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
We are not closed at lunch, therefore you may walk in or telephone us as needed throughout the day.
Any holiday closings will be posted prior to the holiday for client convenience.
BREASTFEEDING
We have two breastfeeding peer counselors, and a lactation consultant as well as several past breastfeeding mothers
