| THE WIC PROCESS & SERVICES |
|

|
- First you will be checked in by the WIC receptionist.
- Next you will be called by one of the clerical staff for your income eligibility screening.
- You will then be seen in the WIC lab (see below) for measuring, weighing, and blood work if needed.
- A nutritionist will speak with you, and determine if you or if the person applying for WIC has a nutritional code to be on the program.
- Finally, you will see one of the clerical staff to receive your WIC vouchers.

THE WIC LAB
- In the WIC lab, a weight, and height will be obtained for each person(s) who is applying for WIC on that day.
- Infants and Children until age 2 will be weighed on the infant scale. Their length will be obtained lying down on the table.
- Children age 2 until 5, and Women will be weighed on the adult scale, and their height will be obtained standing against a statometer.
- Blood-work obtained in the WIC lab is to determine if someone is anemic. This is done by a simple finger-stick.

NUTRITION COUNSELING
What a nutritionist may discuss:
- Eating habits to maintain health, gain or lose weight, comply with special diets (ie. Diabetic)
- Growth / Weight status (over or underweight)
- Anemia
- Dental Care
- Any questions that you may have they will discuss these issues with you.

VOUCHER ISSUANCE
- You will be instructed on how to use the WIC vouchers.
- You will be given information to refer to for approved foods you may purchase with your vouchers while at the grocery store.
- After you have received your vouchers, you will then be given your WIC folder with your next WIC appointment.
