WHEN SHOULD I GET TESTED FOR STDs?

Any health department will test you for most STD’s for FREE. If you schedule an STD appointment you will be tested for the following and not be charged:
  • Gonorrhea
  • Chlamydia (men are not tested)
  • Syphilis
  • Vaginitis “Trich”
  • HIV
Exceptions:
  • Herpes: Testing for Herpes is also free IF you are having an outbreak and a sample can be taken for testing. If you decide to have a blood test done to check for Herpes, you can be referred to a local lab for testing preformed at your own expense.
  • HPV: Women may be notified if they have HPV with their pap smear results. However, this is not part of a regular STD exam. There is currently no male test for HPV.
