The lab tests and/or procedures below
are routinely performed at your visit.
If one or more are abnormal (according
to Health Dept policy), and are not followed
up as Health Dept personnel suggest, then
serious health problems and even death
could occur.
Blood
pressure: The stress of the blood
on the walls of the blood vessels. If
high blood pressure is neglected a heart
attack, stroke, or even death can occur.
Hematocrit: Measures the amount
of iron red blood cells are carrying.
A low hematocrit can cause dizziness,
weakness, headache, and death.
HIV: The virus that causes AIDS. Symptoms show up several years after contact with HIV so if you are sexually active it is important for you to get a HIV test. There is no cure for HIV but with proper medical attention, some individuals can live as long as 20-25 years after becoming infected.
Urine: May indicate infection, which may cause
kidney damage if left untreated.
Pap Test: This test is done by collecting a sample of the cervical or vaginal cells to find any abnormal cells that could lead to cervical cancer.
Chlamydia: Sexually transmitted disease, spread during intercourse, oral sex and anal
sex with someone who has this disease. You can give chalmydia to your sex partner.
It can lead to a more serious infection. Reproductive organs can be damaged and
you may no longer be able to have children.
A mother with chlamydia can give it to
her baby during birth.
Gonorrhea: Same as chlamydia, plus gonorrhea can
cause heart trouble, skin disease, arthritis
and blindness.
Syphilis: Same as chlamydia, plus syphilis can
cause heart disease, brain damage, blindness and death
Pregnancy Test if needed: Are performed at CCPH and serves as an official lab confirmed pregnancy test. A fee will be charged for the test.
