Published: May 02, 2019
Superhero movies are all the rage these days, whether they focus on a single champion or gather a community of justice-minded folks to save the day. There’s something reassuring about watching a protagonist take on the bad guys and emerge victorious in a few hours. It’s the type of control many people wish they had.
One of the blockbusters recently released for home viewing is the origin story of Aquaman. The alter-ego of Arthur Curry, the half-human, half-Atlantean superhero makes his solo appearance in an action-packed adventure. The movie introduces his family, his underwater home, and his nemesis, while also providing plenty of information on the backstory of his costume, his trident, and the history of Atlantis.
Over the course of the movie, Arthur/Aquaman takes on the journey of a lifetime, experiencing a series of events that force him to face who he really is and compel him to discover if he is truly worthy of being a king. It’s a wild ride with plenty of visual spectacle and special effects.
The Southwest Branch Library is offering two opportunities to catch the film. The first takes place at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 4, and the second takes place at 3 pm on Monday, May 6. If you’re longing to see this latest installment of the DC Comics universe, join us for the onscreen action, and enjoy popcorn and a drink! Rated PG-13.
