Learn to Screen Print
Published: October 08, 2018
The Library is a huge asset in developing skill sets, whether they’re for work or personal enrichment. Not only are there countless resources available for educational purposes, but there’s a variety of equipment that folks can use to gain practical time and hands-on experience.
Our upcoming workshop will teach participants about screen printing techniques while also using the TechConnect space’s Silhouette digital cutter. It’s a fascinating sequence that introduces people to the concepts behind this style of printing but makes it much more accessible to first-time users.
We’ll start with ready-made seasonal designs that we produce on the digital cutter. Then, we’ll place them on a filtering fabric and apply the paint (usually ink), removing the excess to generate the completed design on paper. Once it dries, it’s a striking piece of art that you can frame for display. Even if you’ve never dabbled in screen printing before, you’ll find that you can create something unique and beautiful!
To participate in this cool, educational program, call 828.465.8665 to register. The workshop will take place on Thursday, October 18 at 6 pm at the Main Library in Newton.
