Come Along on Mission Mars Slime

Come Along on Mission Mars Slime

Published: June 27, 2019

In science-fiction stories and space movies, the planet Mars figures prominently. It’s the source of endless fascination due to its supposed ‘little green men’ and its thus-far-elusive signs of life.

To help kids have a better grasp of the Red Planet, we’ll be sharing facts and talking about the reality of its geology and NASA missions. We’ll also discuss the possibility of water on and under the surface and consider the planet’s atmosphere and temperature.

After all the good information is communicated, we’ll have a little gooey fun by making up a batch of slime. Simple household ingredients are transformed into a cool substance that occupies small hands for hours. It’s a great way to cap off a session dealing with the possibilities of life beyond our own planet!

The Mars program takes place Tuesday, July 2 at 4 pm at the Southwest Branch Library.
