Capture the Night Sky
Published: June 13, 2019
Chances are, you’ve been mesmerized by the moon and stars at some point and tried to take a photo of their nighttime beauty, only to come away with a wash of darkness instead. As it turns out, taking dramatic photos of a starry night sky requires a fair amount of knowledge and some smart planning.
To coincide with our Summer Learning series, the Library is hosting a hands-on workshop focused on astrophotography. Designed to teach amateurs how to walk away with images they can be proud of, the session led by professional photographer Chris Garner will share useful strategies about capturing light in the midst of darkness. It will touch on concepts like aperture opening, exposure time, and more, so if you’d like to trade out your photos of empty voids for spectacular stretches of the Milky Way, come discover what you need to change about your process.
The seminar takes place at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 19 at the Main Library in Newton. Registration is required; please call 828.465.8665 to attend.
