Catawba County Government Center Building
Second Floor Meeting Room
100-A Southwest Boulevard
Newton, North Carolina

I. Call to Order/Welcome

II. Approval of Minutes – August 25, 2008

III. Public Hearing

1. A request by Princeton Management to rezone two parcels totaling 3.24 acres, from R-30 Residential to RC Rural Commercial District. The properties are located at 2122 Clyde Rd. and 7774 Hudson Chapel Rd. in the Sherrills Ford Small Area Planning District, Catawba Township, and further identified by the following Parcel Identification Numbers: 4701-04-74-7078 and 4701-04-74-5196.

2. Establishment of a Voluntary Agricultural District program to encourage the preservation of farmland in Catawba County. The program would be implemented through a proposed ordinance which would establish an agricultural advisory board who would review applications for farmland to be included in an agricultural district and advise other boards on farm-related issues in the County. The designation of agricultural districts raise public awareness of agricultural activities, support the continued viability of local agriculture and help local government officials identify active farming communities. Public notice for approved districts is proposed through signage on the property, identification in the County’s computerized real estate map system (GIS), maps and notices in public offices and on recorded plats.

3. Amendments to the text of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) including but not limited to Development Standards, Signs, Mixed Use Corridor, 321-Economic Development District/Economic Development Overlay, Special Purpose Regulations, Definitions and Miscellaneous.
