BOOK DONATIONS
We do accept
donations of books and other library materials on a limited basis. These
materials must be clean and in good condition.
After careful
evaluation by our professional staff, donations will either be added
to the library collection, or sold in a branch's book sale for the benefit
of the library. Unsold items are either donated to charity or discarded.
We do not accept outdated textbooks or encyclopedias, nor do we find
that magazines sell very well at book sales.
Due to
limited storage space at our branches, most only accept donations just
before a book sale. Check the library newsletter for information about
upcoming branch book sales. You may also call your local branch to ask
if they are currently accepting book donations.
Donated
materials that are added to the libraries' collections must meet the
same standards as other materials we select.
Receipts
for donations will only indicate the type and number of items donated;
the donor is responsible for deciding the value of the donated items.
