PRESCHOOL STORYTIME SCHEDULE
Story TimeAll library branches have free weekly preschool storytimes that:
  • Support the development of pre-reading skills.
  • Contribute to the education of young children in our communities.

NEED MATERIALS FOR YOUR CLASSROOM?

The Youth Services Department supports education in Catawba County and welcomes requests from teachers and homeschool parents for material to support curriculum needs.

Please select from the following forms. Library staff will contact you to confirm that your request was received.

YOUTH SERVICES GOALS
  • To promote reading and learning as an important part of family life in Catawba County.
  • To provide reference materials and information needed by children and youth to complete special school assignments.
  • To provide outreach services to child care center in order to promote early learning and pre-reading skills.
  • To assist public and private schools and homeschool families in their task of educating future generations.
  • To encourage the use of computers as tools for learning and to be a safe bridge to the information superhighway.
OUR COLLECTIONS
The Youth Services Department offers a broad selection of books for children from birth to age 16.
  • Board Books for infants and toddler
  • Easy Storybooks for preschool and early elementary grades
  • ABC Books for beginning readers
  • Juvenile Fiction for middle readers
  • Juvenile Non-fiction on a variety of subjects that interest childrens, such as sports, crafts, pets and wild animals
  • Juvenile Biographies about important people from our past as well as the present
  • Young Adult Fiction with slightly more mature content for teen readers
  • Parent Shelf books about parenting issues and sensitive subjects · Professional Collection books, including teaching and curriculum guides
  • Science Fair Project Books

  • Reference Books to help with reports and projects
  • Read-a-long Kits
  • Books-on-tape
  • Music and Computer CDs
  • Videos for families
  • Time-Together Bags with books, toys, and tapes about special themes
