Kicking Butts
for Healthy Babies is a countywide project
to decrease the number of women who smoke
during pregnancy. Smoking and pregnancy
is the number one preventable cause of
infant death. Catawba County Health Department
has joined together with Catawba Women's
Center, Piedmont OB/GYN, PA, The Woman's
Clinic, Catawba Valley Medical Center
and Frye Regional Medical Center through
a grant from the March of Dimes to assist
health care providers in these settings
to better help women quit smoking before,
during, and after pregnancy. This site
is full of information for health care
providers and anyone who is a smoker,
has a friend or a relative who is a smoker,
is a teen who is thinking about smoking
or has friends who smoke, or who is a
student doing a school report on smoking.
Just go to one of our resource pages
and get more information.
This program
was modeled after the WHISC
program sponsored by Northwest
AHEC. We are grateful for their assistance
throughout this project.
