| At its meeting on Monday, December 18, 2006, the Catawba County Board of Commissioners continued a public hearing on the proposed UDO until its meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. The Board is expected to take action on the ordinance on January 16, 2007.
Following public hearings on the proposed UDO at meetings on August 21 and September 18, 2006, the Board of Commissioners held three work sessions on issues of concern raised by citizens during the two public hearings. The Board focused on minimum lot sizes at a work session on October 2, 2006; on cottage businesses at a work session on November 7, 2006; and on affordable housing at the third work session on December 11. During each of the three work sessions, the Board discussed changes to the proposed UDO and asked staff to provide more information on those changes.
A list of the changes to the UDO proposed by the board, with information on the reasons for the changes cross-referenced to the UDO itself, will be available for public review on the County’s web site at www.catawbacountync.gov, at all branches of the Catawba County Library, and at the County Office of Planning and Community Development by Tuesday, January 2, 2007.
