| Catawba County is inviting the public to capture the sights and memories of the Fourth of July 2009. The County recently began using Flickr, an online photo management and sharing application. Now the County is inviting everyone to send in photos of your July 4th activities and scenes.
Those interested in submitting July 4th photos may access more information on how to send photos. Photos will be placed on our website at www.catawbacountync.gov.
Catawba County, at its sole discretion, has the right to determine which photos submitted are appropriate for publication.
“We’ll publish photos via Flickr, one of the new online tools Catawba County is using to make information available on the internet,” said Dave Hardin, Catawba County Public Information Officer. “We already have photo albums on our Flickr site about a Habitat for Humanity project undertaken by Catawba County employees, the most recent Household Hazardous Waste collection day and the retirement reception for Lucille Pitts, who worked for 65 years for Catawba County.”
You may see the County’s Flickr photo albums here.
“If you’d like to send in photos of your July 4th fun and experiences, it’s going to be very easy to do,” Hardin added. “After you’ve enjoyed the day and taken your digital photos, go here for instructions on how to upload your photos to the County, and the e-mail address you need to use to send them.”
Catawba County has been a state and national leader in the use of the latest social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. Flickr is a public site for networking through photos. The County anticipates being able to use it in the future to inform the public about emergency situations, and we’ll be publishing other photos of interest to the public after July 4th.
For more information on Catawba County’s plan to accept and publish photographs of July 4th scenes around the county, or Catawba County’s Flickr page, you may call the Public Information Office at 828-465-8464. |
