UPDATED INFORMATION ON FLOODING SITUATION IN CATAWBA COUNTY
Here is recent information we have on the flooding situation in Catawba County as of 5:40 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013.

Lake levels: Oxford Dam currently has one gate open to 3 feet. Lookout Shoals Lake is at 100.9 feet after reaching a high of 103.9 feet on Sunday, 7/28. There is nothing further to report at this time. Three Damage Assessment Teams conducted preliminary assessments throughout the day. They will continue these damage assessments beginning at approximately 0800 on Tuesday, 7/30/13.

Preliminary Damage Assessment: Damage Assessment Teams have continued conducting preliminary damage assessments throughout the county. As of 5:00 p.m. on 7/29/13, the teams have reported thirty-eight (38) structures with major damage. Thirty-one (31) of these structures are residential and seven (7) are businesses. Teams will continue conducting damage assessments beginning at approximately 0800 on Tuesday, 7/30/13.

Roads /Bridges: Multiple roadways and bridges are or have been washed out or impassible. Several neighborhoods and areas are not accessible with persons sheltering in place.

Approximately 25 roads are confirmed that are closed or impassible due to flooding or damage, that fall under NC Department Of Transportation’s jurisdiction. The City of Hickory is reporting two (2) roads and City of Conover is reporting one (1) that are closed or impassible in their jurisdiction.
