UPCOMING "GREEN" EVENTS SPONSORED IN CATAWBA COUNTY
Fall Litter Sweep

Join Keep Catawba County Beautiful in the fall’s Litter Sweep Roadside Cleanup. Litter sweep runs from September 20 – October 4. Working together we can keep our county clean and beautiful. Teams are needed to volunteer to clean up roadsides in the county. If you would like more information or if you would like to register a team, contact Kelly Groves at the ARC at 465-8246.

National Green Competitions

Join the campaign to go green, save money, help the environment, and promote energy independence. Catawba County is registered to compete in a national green competition for county governments.

Visit www.greencounties.org/changetheworld to pledge to change light bulbs in your home to energy efficient ones and to make better choices to save power. After you pledge, you can print a coupon to save money on compact fluorescent light bulbs from Office Depot.

Visit www.drivesmarterchallenge.org to learn how to reduce gasoline use by keeping your car in good working order, driving less, and driving more fuel efficiently. You’ll learn lots of tips and get some good coupons at this website also.

There are incentives for the county who has the most citizens register and pledge to do their part to save energy. Both websites have useful information that can save you money and help save the environment as well. Take some time to register today!

If you have questions about either competition, contact Kelly Groves at the ARC at 465-8246.
