The filing period for candidates seeking a seat in the November 6, 2007 election for the Newton Conover City School Board will begin at 12 Noon on Friday, August 17, 2007 and run through 12 Noon on Friday, September 7, 2007. Seats on the board are open, as follows:

- Newton District (one seat open)
- Conover District (three seats open; two four year terms and one two year un-expired term)

The filing period for candidates seeking a seat in the November 6, 2007 election for the Hickory Public School Board will begin at 12 Noon on Friday, August 17, 2007 and run through 5 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2007. Seats on this board are open, as follows:

- Ward 4 (one seat)
- Ward 6 (one seat)
- At Large (one seat)

The filing fee for persons interested in running for a seat on either the Hickory Public Schools or the Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education is $5.00.
