Donate Now! Many citizens ask how they can help their fellow Catawba County Citizens, wishing to making financial donations. To make this easier for you, we list the programs you can donate to with contact information.
Program Name For More Information What the Program Does
Backpack Program 828-695-5648 The Backpack Program provides a backpack filled with food to elementary students who are eligibile for free and reduced school lunch. The backpacks are sent home with these students every Friday throughout the school year, as long as they are eligible. Volunteers pack bags each week and deliver them to the school. This Program is 100% funded by donations received from individuals, churches, and businesses. See Backpack Website.
 
Children's Book Station 828-695-4525 Donations of new and gently used children's books help restock the Children's Book Station in the Food Assistance office. Each month, thousands of families with young children visit this office. Children may read these books during their visit and may take home a book if they wish.
 
Foster Care Children's Expense Fund 828-695-4536 Donations provide children in foster care with the extras that make life memorable, such as school pictures, band instruments, piano lessons, field trips, ballet lessons, and Christmas gifts.
 
Grace McLeod Adult Services Fund 828-695-5609 Donations help senior citizens and the disabled in emergency situations.
Gretchen Peed Scholarship Fund 828-695-4536 You can help a child in foster care attend college through this scholarship fund. Read more
 
Meals on Wheels 828-695-5610 Donations help to expand this service to more senior citizens with disabilities. Volunteers are also needed to help deliver the meals. Read more
 
LINKs Program (Independent Living Programming for Teens in Foster Care) 828-695-2134 Provides resources for foster children to facilitate the transition to adulthood.
 
Seniors Morning Out 828-695-5610 Donations help expand this program, which offers a free nutritious lunch and activities to persons 60 or older, regardless of income.Read more
 
Teen Up 828-695-4418 Offers information, activities and counseling and support to youths, ages 9-17, to encourage responsible decisions about adolescent issues. Read more
