Mobile Home Permit: Who May Apply for the Set-up Only of the Home?
- A dealership licensed by the State of
North Carolina, if the home was sold from their lot, or;
- A Set-up contractor licensed by the
State of North Carolina
- A full-time employee of either of the
above, or;
- The home owner
- A home owner may set-up his or her own
home without a set-up contractor's license, provided the home
fully complies with the North Carolina Mobile Home Code, the manufacturer's
set-up manual, and all applicable local ordinances at the time of installation.
This includes homes that are owned by the applicant but will be rented.
- If a
homeowner is acting as his or her own contractor and hires
another party to perform the work,
this party must be a licensed set-up contactor or licensed dealership,
and the application must list the name under which the dealership or
set-up contractor is licensed, and the license number.
- Dealerships may set-up only homes they
have sold from their lots.
Electrical Permit: Who May Apply?
- A licensed electrical contractor (NOTE: a dealership or licensed
set-up contractor cannot do any of the electrical work, including
crossover electrical connections and frame bonding of multi unit homes),
or;
- The home owner may do all work without an electrical license if the
home is not intended for sale, rent or lease.
Mechanical Permit: Who May Apply?
- A licensed mechanical contractor, or;
- A dealership licensed in North Carolina,
which may install the mechanical crossover duct only if it was shipped
with the home and if the home was sold from their lot. All other work,
including the setting of the outside AC/Heat Pump unit and running of
refrigerant lines, must be performed by either the home owner (as long
as the home is not intended for sale or rent) or a licensed mechanical
contractor, or;
- A set-up contractor licensed in the
State of North Carolina, which may install the mechanical crossover
duct only if it was shipped with the home. All other work, including
the setting of the outside AC/Heat Pump unit and running of refrigerant
lines, must be performed by either the homeowner (if home is not intended
for sale or rent) or licensed mechanical contractor, or;
- The home owner may do all work without
a mechanical license if the home is not intended for sale, rent or lease
Plumbing Permit
Who May Apply?
- A dealership licensed by the State of
North Carolina, if the home has been sold from their lot, or;
- A set-up contractor licensed by the
State of North Carolina, or;
- A full time employee of either if the
home is new or used, as long as the plumbing system is installed on
a site within the perimeter of the outside of the home and is in accordance
with the factory designed system as shown in the manufacture's
set-up manual. (If the design is not identical or if the set-up manual
is not available, then a licensed plumber would be required), or;
- A Plumbing Contractor licensed in the
State of North
Carolina, or;
- The home owner may do all without a
plumbing license if the home is not intended for sale, rent or lease.
