Once your project has begun, you will need to call the Building Services Division to schedule inspections at different stages of construction.  Catawba County has a single phone number, 828-465-8399, that handles all inspection requests, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round. When you call, you will be greeted by an automated attendant and may use two methods to schedule an inspection.

1. An Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system: allows you to call in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to schedule any of the kinds of inspections listed here. It will allow you to schedule or cancel an inspection; change the scheduled inspection date, and get a history of the inspections that have already been done. It will also allow you to have documents faxed to you, or be transferred to speak to an inspector.
   
   
2. Speak with a Permit Center staff person: When the automated attendant answers during regular office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday), you may press zero and the IVR system will transfer you out to the Permit Center. A Permit Center staff person will be happy to schedule an inspection for you. If all staff are busy with other callers, your call will be answered in the order it was received. If our office is closed, you will be asked to call back during regular office hours.
   

Using either method, you will receive confirmation of the type of inspection you scheduled, and the date of the inspection.
