Before purchasing a used or new mobile home, we recommend you speak with
a representative of the Catawba County Department of Planning, Development
and Parks to make sure the home can be placed on the property you have in
mind. You will need to determine the Zoning jurisdiction
where the property is located in and contact
the proper agency directly. You may be asked for the following information:
Address of the property.
Is the home new or used?
What type of roof: metal or shingle?
What type of siding is on the home?
Once the Department of Planning, Development and Parks has approved your request, you will need to think about your water and sewer needs.
Is city water and/or sewer available on the property?
IF
NOT
You will need a well or septic tank installed on your property.
The Catawba
County Environmental Health Department will need to look at your
property to make sure a system can be installed, and determine where it
will need to go. You may apply for that service at either Permit
Center location.
Once a well or septic tank inspection is complete, you will be ready to apply for your mobile home permit. This may be done at either of our Permit Centers. The Permit Center staff will guide you through the process by:
Confirming your zoning approval
Confirming that your need for water and sewer has been met.
Asking you to fill out a Mobile Home Permit application
Explaining the next steps you will need to complete.
The
Permit Center staff will advise you on the trade (electrical, mechanical
and plumbing inspection) permits that will need to be issued for your
project . The Permit Center uses trade
applications for these permits, but you won't need to fill out
any of those unless you'll be doing the work yourself.
At any stage of your process, the Permit Center and
Building Inspections inspectors will be happy to answer any questions you
may have about the process or any code issues, at our telephone
numbers.
Have we answered your question or addressed your concern?
If not, let
us know.
