HOW DO I SUBMIT A SET OF COMMERCIAL PLANS
FOR MY BUILDING? |
If you're thinking about doing some interior remodeling or renovation, an
addition to your existing building, or you want to build a new one, you
will need to take the following steps:
- Contact your the Planning and Zoning
department for the city, town or area where your building or property
is located.
- Staff of that department will let you
know of any requirements that they have, such as site plan details.
- Contact the Catawba County Plan Review
Office at 828-466-5130. They will answer any questions, and give
you a brief step-by-step overview of the process.
- When you have your plans ready to submit, you will need to fill out
a commercial plan review form.
- The number of sets of plans required
to be brought into the Permit Center for processing are identified on
the form by Zoning department.
- Make sure that each set of plans contains a building summery sheet (Appendix B)
- Bring your plans to either Permit
Center.
- A $10.00 fee will be collected each time you submit plans.
- If you are working with a Planning and
Zoning Department other than the Catawba County or City of Hickory departments,
you will need to drop off your plans with that department before you
come to either location of the Catawba County Permit Center. They
will give you a "blue form" to show the Catawba County Permit Center
when you drop off your plans.
- When your plans are processed at the Catawba County Permit Center,
you will be given your plan case number and sent a confirmation letter
that will tell you how you may use our online
permit center to monitor the progress of you plans. We will
be glad to show you how to you use this system if you need help.
We hope you find the system easy to use and a good source of information.
