There may be times when you will need to cancel a scheduled inspection, because of bad weather or if your project is not as far along as you thought it would be.  You may cancel a scheduled appointment in one of two ways.

If it is before the day of the scheduled inspection:

• The Building Inspections Division's Interactive Voice Response system(IVR) allows you to call in, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and cancel any inspection by calling
  828-465-8399.
  
• Speaking with a Permit Center staff person: If you would rather speak to someone during the County normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.) then you may press zero and the IVR system will transfer you to the Permit Center. A Permit Center staff person will cancel the inspection for you. If all staff are busy on the phone,  your call will be answered in the order it was received. If our office is closed, you will be asked to call back during normal business hours.

If it is on the morning of the scheduled inspection:

• Call 828-465-8399, then press zero to speak to the Permit Center staff so they can alert an inspector who may have already left to do inspections.
  
• You may also call the inspector that was scheduled to perform you inspection and cancel through him.
