The
Lake Patrol unit is made up of two full time Lake Patrol Deputies
that patrol the lakes and surrounding area year around. Approximately 25 part-time Deputies during peak season
TRAINING
Lake
Patrol deputies have received advance training in marine
law enforcement, water rescue techniques, radiological monitoring
and emergency medical training. Full time deputies attend
the Small Craft Enforcement course at the Federal Law Enforcement
Training Center located in Glynco. Ga. Part time Lake deputies
attend a boater safety course, basic first aid course and
conduct approximately 100 hours of training before being
considered for the Lake Patrol Unit.
The Lake Patrol unit participates in a yearly Nuclear Regulatory
Commission training and testing for lake evacuation in the
event of a nuclear emergency. The unit is also a member
of the Lake Emergency Response Team, made up of the local
municipalities that surround Lake Norman.
