COURTS

Court Bailiffs are responsible for the security and safety of the courts in both the Catawba County Justice Center and the Hickory District Court Complex. As many as eight different courts can be in session at one time. These include Superior Civil and Criminal, District Civil & Criminal, Magistrate Courts, Infractions Court, Domestic Violence Court, Juvenile Court and Special Proceedings Court. Bailiffs are also responsible for staffing the security station at the main entrance to the Justice Center in Newton anmd the Hickory District Court Complex. The Sheriff's Office has twenty full and part time officers assigned to Court Security.
