The Criminal Investigation Division is staffed by 11 investigators and 2 deputies. The CID is responsible for investigating major crimes and crime scene processing. Each of the detectives performs a variety of law enforcement duties. Visiting crime scenes, processing and protecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects make up a large part of the duties of a detective. Detectives use the latest technology in computers and equipment to process crime scenes and evidence. This division investigates approximately 1,200 cases per year.
