Are
You OK? is a computerized telephone program provided by the Catawba
County Sheriff's Office. YOU choose the time of day and the days of
the week YOU want to be called. The Are You OK? Program is available
Monday through Friday.
How
does the program work?
At a time you designate, a computer automatically dials your number
and waits for an answer. When you answer the telephone, you will hear
a message. Once you speak, the computer assumes you are OK and the call
is completed.
Will
I be speaking to a live person?
No. When you answer, the prerecorded message will play. A person in
the Sheriff's Office will monitor all responses.
What
if I can't answer the telephone immediately?
The computer will redial your number. If you do not respond to the second
call, an alarm goes off and the dispatcher will telephone whomever you
designated as a contact person
What
happens if the contact person can't be reached?
A Deputy from the Catawba County Sheriff's Office will be dispatched
to check on you.
How
much does the program cost?
It is FREE to older adults, anyone who is disabled, handicapped or homebound,
residing in Catawba County.
