Who Does What
ADMINISTRATION
Dewey Harris Interim Human Resources Director 465-8205

Responsible for the overall planning, organization and direction of the Human Resources Department. Work includes policy recommendation, review and implementation; monitors trends in the Human Resources field and makes recommendations; and oversees all functions of the Human Resources department. Assists employees and departments with the grievance procedure and appeals processes. Assists employees when they have questions regarding any Human Resources policy, the County Personnel Code, or benefits.

Nancy Rockett Assistant Human Resources Director 465-8257

Assists and advises department directors, supervisors and employees in the area of employee relations; provides interpretation of County Personnel Code and guidance on administrative policies. Coordinates County-wide training opportunities. Researches and makes recommendations to ensure Fair Labor Standards Act compliance. Coordinates bilingual testing for County employees. Serves as a resource in the Human Resource Director's absence.

Greets visitors to the department, assists citizens and employees with various questions related to all functions of Human Resources, coordinates special ticket programs offered through the county, provides employment verifications, and assists with processing of COBRA and retiree insurance billing and family status changes. Coordinates bilingual testing for County employees.

Patricia Holloway Human Resources Specialist 465-8254

Assists supervisors and employees with the process and procedure for requesting Family and Medical Leave, the filing of applications for short term and long-term disability benefits, and other leave issues.

Charles Ingold Benefits Coordinator 465-8252

Coordinates the County's benefit program, including review and recommendations on the benefits provided to employees. Assists employees with retirement planning, insurance questions or problems. Is responsible for the new employee orientation and exit interviews with terminating employees.

Paulette Smyre Human Resources Specialist 465-8496

Assists departments with a variety of payroll processing issues, coordinates benefit insurance reporting to the County's third party administrator to ensure coverage for employees is correct, and processes terminating employees for benefit and payroll processing.

Martia Vang Human Resources Specialist 465-8902

Assists departments with a variety of payroll processing issues. Processes all new hire information, benefits and payroll changes, assists with new employee orientation. Assists employees with changes in coverage or questions/concerns with benefits.

CLASSIFICATION & PAY
Amy Gragg Management Analyst 465-8225

Manages position classification and compensation for County positions. Responsible for conducting the annual classification study and making recommendations to the Human Resources Director and County Manager; analyzing individual reclassification requests; classifying newly created positions; and developing and maintaining job specs. Ensures accurate implementation of the County’s wellness program, evaluates employee participation in the program, and works with contracted medical staff to help develop and implement programs to improve wellness.

RECRUITMENT
Angie Triplett Recruitment Analyst 465-8265

Assists departments with recruitment functions including the advertising of vacancies, processing of applications, interviewing, reference checking, and pre-employment screenings.

Cee Lee Human Resources Technician 465-8383

Assists Recruitment Analyst with recruitment functions and provides clerical support for the department. Assists applicants with information on job listings and status of applications. Coordinates pre-employment screenings for potential employees, bilingual testing for County employees, and provides employment verifications. Assists with coordination of training and employee development opportunities provided by the Human Resources Dept. Assists with receptionist duties including greeting visitors to the department, assisting citizens and employees with various questions related to all functions of Human Resources, coordinating special ticket programs offered through the county, and assisting with processing of COBRA billing and family status changes.

RISK MANAGEMENT
Miriam Powell Risk Manager 465-8480

Responsible for Workers Compensation and Liability Programs, OSHA, Defensive Driving, and Security. The Risk Manager conducts safety evaluations, ergonomic reviews, and develops training specific to the employee's work environment. Liability issues that affect employee and citizen safety are managed within the Risk Management Division as well as the procurement of Property, Auto, Liability and Insurance Bonding.

Sarah Hunt Risk Management Technician 465-8256

Serves as support staff for Risk Manager. Compiles injury information for OSHA reporting. Coordinates OSHA and Risk Management Training Classes, maintains record keeping on Liability, OSHA, Driving and Risk Management Programs.

WELLNESS (Contract through Catawba Valley Medical Center)
Nicole Lamonica Wellness Coordinator 465-8482

Coordinates and manages various wellness related programs, screenings, and activities offered through the County to county employees for the purpose of promoting and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
