Trail at Bakers Mountain
Picnicking
Most picnic tables are located close to parking areas and restrooms. Benches can be found throughout the park. Almost any open spot along the trail is perfect to spread out a blanket and enjoy the surroundings.

Hiking Trails
Nearly 6 miles of trail lead you through Bakers Mountain Park and lead to the gazebo and platform near the top of the mountain. The Blue and orange trails are very steep and strenuous gaining almost 600 feet in elevation. A quarter mile ADA accessible paved trail is located near the park office and parking. All trails are well marked with map stands, marking posts and benches. The paved trail and yellow trail have interesting interpretive information along the path. Because of our unique location, you will see great diversity in plant life and wildlife; many unusual indigenous mountain species can be found.
The trail system is excellent for bird watching. All trails are well shaded because of the maturity of this hardwood forest.

Summer TanagerBird Watching, Wildlife and Habitat Observation
Wildlife viewing at Bakers Mountain Parkcan be quite unique from other parts of Catawba County. The mature Chestnut Oak Forest provides breeding habitats for bird species such as the Worm-eating Warbler, Summer Tanager and Blue-headed Vireo. Golden Eagles and other raptors can occasionally be seen soaring above the mountain. Mammals such as White-tailed Deer, Grey Squirrels and maybe even a Bobcat may be seen on the mountain. A variety of butterflies also call Bakers Mountain home.
